JA Showcases Local Jobs, Education Opportunities

Whats Next GuideAccording to ACT.org, an organization that provides research and information on education and workforce development, “students who participate in career readiness programs are two-thirds more likely to express future occupational goals and confidence regarding career planning, than students who do not participate in these programs.”

JA has always been, and continues to be, passionately dedicated to the goal of preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s workforce. And an important component of JA activities is showcasing local workplace and education opportunities. Through the many educational and professional relationships JA has forged across the region, students are becoming increasingly aware of, and prepared for, careers within our local communities.

ja dayFor example, career information is shared with elementary and middle school students during JA in a Day experiences. The colorful graphics capture attention and showcase local hot jobs. Real-life career simulations are included in the one-day role-play experiences at the specialty JA BizTown and JA Finance Park facilities, too.

New this year: A career essay competition for JA Economics for Success and JA Career Success students. Students explore their career goals in the essay, with the opportunity for one student in each school to receive a $100 award. There’s an added job shadow opportunity for JA Career Success students who enter the essay competition, as well.
