Did you know it takes about 2½ pounds of grapes to make a bottle of wine? Or that beer dates back to at least 4,000 BC.? Community members at the Junior Achievement Wine & Beer Festival will learn all that and more as they taste test and relax with purchases on Saturday, August 5, from 5:00-8:30 p.m. at Parkview Field, downtown Fort Wayne.

Specialty Indiana wineries and craft brewers will offer taste testing as they share their knowledge about transforming grapes into smooth wines and hops into the best hand-crafted beer. To complement the wine and beer tasting, food will be available for purchase on site. Wine by the glass and bottle will also be available for purchase.

Tickets are $35 per person in advance or $40 at the gate. Designated drivers can purchase tickets for $10 per person. All proceeds will support Junior Achievement, which this year is empowering more than 131,000 young people to own their economic success by enhancing the relevancy of education.

“Fort Wayne has a tradition of amazing year-round celebrations, and JA is proud to be the selected beneficiary of this summer festival at Parkview Field,” says Lena Yarian, President, Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana. “The Wine & Beer Festival is a way for adults to gather in support of JA’s mission of preparing young people for the opportunities and realities of work in the 21st century marketplace.”
